A friend is a loved one who awakens your life in order to free the wild possibilities within you.
-John O’Donohue. . .
It is easy to take one another for granted. Our friends, family and co-workers become familiar faces and can all too easily drop into the landscape of our environment pushed back by our busyness, striving, or insecurities. What we miss in these hectic moments is not only connection but reflection.
For better or worse we are mirrors onto one another. Those that touch our hearts show us our goodness, our possibilities, and sometimes our sadness. When we sit with the reflection and the feeling it invokes we not only see what is inside of them, we can feel what is inside of us. By doing so we make a deeper connection to each other. We begin to understand that the person in front of us is indeed a soul-friend.
This season, look around the room, the Thanksgiving table, the holiday party and remember to smile, connect, and embrace the reflections of the many soul-friends in your life.
