We all spend too much time wrestling with our thoughts.  We feel we should be doing more, or doing less. Our passions have opposing fears that keep us stuck in place. And every decision has consequences that can keep us in a headlock that tightens the more we mull it over.

Whenever I find myself teasing thoughts into knots, I remember a scene from Harry Potter. In the scene, Harry falls through a large hole in the castle floor that releases him from a perilous situation. Yet in the hole he is captured by the thick tentacles of an octopus type creature. The more he struggles to be released, the more he is strangled by the attachments. From below, he hears the voice of his wise friend, Hermione, who yells, “relax and let go!”  When Harry finally stops fighting, he is released from the tentacles and falls through the passage.

The attachments that keep us bound to our struggles grab at us many times a day. Thus, “relax and let go” needs to be our mantra until the passage opens and clarity prevails.

I love your visual. I have been speaking of this all week in class.
The subconscious mind is like a parrot and repeats what ever we tell it.

Always a good idea to be careful what we say to a parrot. (:
